Summary of MMOM's 11th Asian "Bible Project and Christian Workers Training Conferences"

Reported by Dr. Donnie D. Whitlock

Greetings Partners In The Faith:

A dear Filipino friend asked,  “Dr. Whitlock, where have you taken the Gospel?”  And then, she stated, “I am sure all those places are looking for you to come again!”  Her question and statement has been rolled over and over in my heart. It has become a reminder to me that the night is quickly approaching when our labor on earth will be over.  It isn’t time to stop our giving and going, nor is it time to slow down.

I wish there was some way MMOM’s 11th “Asian Bible Project and Christian Workers Training Conferences” could have been experienced by all of God’s people.  A special thanks to ALL who gave of their finances,  prayers, and those that labored hard in the printshop.  Praise the Lord for all of the nationals pastors and workers, that made the “Bible Project” a great success in Thailand, Myanmar [Burma], Indonesia and the Philippines.  God used in a very special way some of my dearest friends as Thomas Cox, Jerry Skelton, Mark Hammer, and my folks.  Of course, it was all of you who faithfully stand with us monthly that makes not only “Bible Project” a great success but who sustain Wanda and I to be able to labor in the Lord’s work.  Thank you for having a vision for the lost and allowing us be your voice around the world.

God allowed Bro. Ed Small to join Mass Media for 2 weeks in the Philippines.  He was a blessing and a great help in fulfilling many of the preaching obligations.   This was his second time to participate in a “Bible Project” in the country of the Philippines.   He is excited about returning in the future.

There were many great happenings during “Bible Project”, but none greater than the 505 public professions of faith.  There were Muslims, Buddhist, Hindus, Catholics, and even some Baptist that were saved.  There were many others that responded, but did not make it public.  MMOM was able to distribute Bibles (over 6,000) in 3 languages,  129,000 study guides, 3,000 Bible CDs, along with used clothes, reading glasses, and many other items.  Praise the Lord for He is the only one able to do what was done!

The Lord gave great opportunities to preach His Word in the different places, and to diverse people.  MMOM is known by the nationals to be willing to preach in the ‘dark corners’ of this world.  Up until now MMOM has not refused to go anywhere the Lord has given us to preach the Gospel.  There are a lot of requests we have not been able to fulfill at this time.  Last year alone I had to turned down over 200 invitations...so, the Filipino pastors are praying for me a “Joshua”.

“Bible Project” led MMOM into the hilltribes of northern Thailand, across the border into Burma,  into two villages along the riverbanks that border Cambodia, and into the city of Bangkok.  From Thailand I headed to two islands in the Philippines.  On Luzon the meetings started in Zambales and ended up with me preaching in over 30 churches in the Manila area.   From the island of Luzon I headed to Bacolod City in the Negros Islands.  From Bacolod City, I flew on to Indonesia.  Indonesia, is always the hardest place to minister because of the Muslims.  I was able to minister on two islands, Java and Bali.

God allowed the Gospel to be shared this year in 6 public school classrooms, a funeral held at the palace of a congresswoman and vice-governor, in homes and streets of the poor, in the courtyard of a hotel, on the hillside in villages, in churches and in many other places.  It was a privilege to see over 30 government officials in the Philippines response to the invitation to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and 1 policeman in Indonesia.  Of course, we are grateful for all of those who responded to the Gospel message. My heart was moved with God’s presence and power in all the services.

Please remember, “Bible Project and Christian Workers Training Conferences” is only a small portion of MMOM’s outreach.  We are involved in personal soul-winning, preaching, teaching, re-production of New Testaments on cassette tapes, training nationals through our correspondence courses and doctrinal series, helping missionaries, writing and printing Gospel materials.  Our resource of funds at this time limit us from enlarging our outreach.  Therefore, MMOM has been forced to pick and choose those whom we labor with.  MMOM needs more financial supporters in order to be able to fulfill part of the requests that come in daily.  It is a burdensome thing to receive daily requests and not have the funds to buy the supplies to print the materials or to pay for the postage/shipping.  Please help us pray for partners and co-laborers.

MMOM practices the indigenous principle in the Bible.  We do not bring nationals to America to rise their support nor do we provide buildings.  MMOM believes God will provide for the national pastor, missionary and Christian workers with their needed funds in their home land.  We do understand there are times nationals may need our help, never do we promise to build their buildings or pay their salaries.  There is a danger in becoming their bank and letting them miss the blessing of seeing God work in their situation.  Wanda and I exemplify this by providing part of our home and a building that is 16X20 feet in our yard for the operation of MMOM’s printshop.  We are thankful to have a home to be used.  I believe a servant’s heart is to use what you have for the Lord, and be grateful.

After traveling over 49,000 miles through Asia, I am reminded once again of the great need of the Gospel to be preached throughout the world.  Asia is the land of many gods that do not satisfy the hungering of the soul.  The Lord Jesus Christ is the only satisfier of the soul.  There could be volumes written on what God did, has done and is going to do through those who have been trained and encouraged as servants of the Most High God.  He is God...and besides Him there is none other.

Please prayerful considering helping MMOM with a special offering.  We are in need of paper ($35.00 a case), and other supplies.  When you help MMOM you help us to respond to pleading souls in Asia and in other parts of the world.  Would you please consider the needs of MMOM and the Whitlocks?  Be a partner in this work of faith.

To all those who give, pray and help, Wanda and I would like to say, THANK YOU!   Thanks for being a friend and co-laborer of ours, for the sake of the Gospel.

—A TESTIMONY OF THE GRACE OF GOD—

Dear Friends and Faithful Partners:

One of the greatest opportunities the Lord has ever afforded me came on December 4, 2006 when I returned to the island of Bangka in Indonesia where my family had served 24 years ago. Once on the island my mind ran back to those days, that were gone forever. It was during that time the church we started was under attack by the government of Palembang. It was especially hard for my family knowing that most people in America did not understand the battles we were fighting. Being on a demonic island as young missionaries we fought a spiritual warfare that involved physical health, personal attacks on the family, the welfare of the church and the dislike of the government toward Christianity.

It was 1982 when the Indonesian government closed the church down three different times. The law used against the church came from a Muslim family that the government had moved into the village from the island of Java. The church was mainly made up of Indonesian-Chinese, who are normally disliked by the Indonesians. Not only the closing of the church was upon my shoulders but the day came (1983) when we were asked to leave the island. Bankga and the believers were never removed from our hearts nor forgotten although, we were separated from them.

A young convert and member of the church named Lim Yung San was asked by government officials to be quiet about his faith or leave the island. He couldn’t be quiet, so he was placed on a plane and flown off his birth island (May 1982). God called Lim Yung San to preach the Word of God soon after his conversion.

It was some years later that God sent His preacher home to reopened Jeliti Baptist Church. He and the members were able to do so by moving it into the next village and under the paperwork of another church.

What a blessing it was to arrive back on Bangka and to see what God was doing with Jeliti Baptist Church. The buildings where Jeliti Baptist Church was started are still standing but decaying. They remain locked by the government. It is a miracle to see what God has done and is doing. The Indonesian (Muslim) government could only lock the people out of the buildings, but they could not lock the Holy Spirit out of these dear peoples lives. Hallelujah!

JELITI BAPTIST CHURCH WAS STARTED —1980... The first building was made of stick-walls, coconut leaved roof and dirt floors.  The building was filled with Confucius and Buddhist idols.  The building had been used for over 70 years as a place to worship idols. The owner of this place was the first convert in Jeliti.  Upon getting saved he destroyed all the idols and the building became the first Baptist church throughout the island of Bangka.

PRAISE THE LORD— It was from this building that God saved three young boys (ages 8, 10, 12) that would one day lead this congregation.

2nd BUILDING— 1981...The 1st building became a Sunday school outreach. The Lord blessed the church and added to it. Within nine months there was an average attendance of 150 people. The second building was a wooden structure with special dirt and rock floors. The Lord blessed greatly with souls saved and servants called.

PRAISE THE LORD— It was out of this building God saved and called a young 18 year old man to preach...who is now the pastor.

JELITI BAPTIST CHURCH— 2006...The church averages over 400 people per service and has a new building. Jeliti Baptist Church has reproduced itself by starting another church in SungaiLiat. Two missionary families now serving in Malaysia have been sent from this congregation.

What a privilege to see first hand God’s amazing grace at work! Jeliti Baptist Church is a testimony of the Lord’s promise concerning His CHURCH, “I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). A special thanks to all these who have supported us from our early days in mission work and even up until now. Truly, we are grateful to all our supporters through these 31 years. God has been faithful.

Please continue to pray for the Whitlocks and Mass Media Outreach Ministries as we endeavor to get the Gospel to the unreached; training these reached in the Scriptures; and planting local Baptist churches. Eternity is real...prayerfully labor with us in reaching the lost.

Your FRIENDS and MISSIONARIES In Christ,

Donnie and Wanda Whitlock

The Lord Jesus gave MMOM as great time in Indonesia this "Bible Project and Christian Workers Training Conference."  Of course, Indonesia is on a different scale than any other Asian nation because of being the largest Muslim nation in the world.  The Lord gave us some great meetings with the churches, a Bible college and with many individuals.  Please continue to pray for the country of Indonesiaespecially, the Christians.  Many of the Christians live in daily fear because of the persecution they face.
